The System Tray icon for Intel’s Rapid Storage software is installed on the PC through iastoricon.exe. The icon gives users easy access to an application that allows them to check the current status of their hard disk or disks, to see if there are any errors on any of the disks. The icon also launches an application that allows users to configure the settings of their RAID system. The easy-access feature that the file gives users is considered as the only good thing about the file, as users have mentioned on several different occasions. The file appears to be a resource hog, where most clients found the file hogging as much as 70 MB of CPU resources. For this reason, a good many clients have chosen to disable the file. They have opted instead to access the Rapid Storage software only when necessary, or when doing random checks of the system and all its components.
