The hpzstatn.exe file is part of the HP Deskjet Taskbar Utility. While a non essential program, any corruption in the program will cause system to bog down as a result of the program being installed in the registry. While it may be of minor importance to the operation of the utility program, it cannot be deleted as it is referenced by other essential programs in the suite. Any system having trouble with this program can elect to remove the HP Deskjet Taskbar Utility. Any other problems associated with the program can be due to corruption or infection by virus or malware, making this program one of the primary programs to inspect in cases of crashes or freezes, primarily because it is a registry resident program that affects the action of associated programs in the suite or Operating System, which means a registry repair or cleanup to restore some semblance of system’s old operational efficiency.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hpzstatn.exe. is used by HP Deskjet Taskbar Utility, DJ StatusServer Module, If you shut down hpzstatn.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
