Also known by the name HP Support Assistance Service, the hpsa_service.exe process is a file that belongs to the program HP Support Assistant, which is developed by Hewlett-Packard (HP) Company. HP Support Assistance Service is a component that enables the primary function of the software HP Support Assistant to properly work. The program is used as a PC application to provide help, assistance and support that can resolve different problems encountered by the user when using his or her HP devices, such as printer and scanner. It also performs other computer related solutions for the maintenance and tune-up of PC, provides updates of software and installs them automatically, and suggests actions to resolve any error or problem. This program that houses hpsa_service.exe is compatible with Microsoft Windows operating systems, which include later versions like Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 7. Once the program is installed on the system, this file is downloaded as well, and must remain stored on its folder location.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hpsa_service.exe. is used by HP Support Assistant, If you shut down hpsa_service.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
