Hpboid.exe is the executable file for HP Status Server, the software for Hewlett-Packard business laser printers. This service is signed with Hewlett-Packard’s EAC Technology, the built-in service which queries if the printer is locally connected or networked, so that the user can save time determining if an envelope feeder is needed with the printer or not. The Status Server features a pop-up status notification during print task to inform the user about the printer device status, the print job status, and the consumable levels suck as ink or toner. The pop-up displays a graphical dashboard showing the ink or toner supply levels, site links for consumables reorder, and technical support for the particular printer model. HP Status Server does the querying through SNMP server and only present when printing, thus minimizing the network traffic. It can be turned off if desired. This is the improved version of the earlier application, which had technical issues reported.
