The hot_plug.exe file is the process called Hot_Plug MFC Application that is used by the application Hot_Plug Application created by Silicon Integrated Systems. It is not a core file for Windows that means the operating system can run without requiring this process. It runs when you boot Windows. It uses the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. It records inputs. This program uses a visible window. Hot plugging is a function used to replace computer system components without the need to shut down the system. Hot plugging defines the addition of components for system expansion without significantly interrupting the system operation. The user can plug or unplug a component without the need to reboot once the proper program is installed. Hot plugging allows you to plug in new devices for immediate use. This will not require users to learn a lot about system administration. The system can partially auto-configure itself. Hot plugging supports devices such as Cardbus or PCI and USB, and can configure some of the common network interfaces automatically.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hot_plug.exe. is used by Hot Plug Application, If you shut down hot_plug.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hot_plug.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Hot Plug Application, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Hot Plug Application, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.

The first thing you should do if hot_plug.exe. is causing errors on your computer is to run a Windows registry scan with Registry Reviver If you are still seeing errors after this you should uninstall the program that hot_plug.exe, belongs to, in this case Hot Plug Application
