The hookcentre.sys file is a process called Security Hook that is used by the application G DATA Software AG created by G DATA Software AG. It is not a core file for Windows. This program does not use a visible window. This process is a driver. A driver is a computer application that controls or operates a certain device connected to the computer. It communicates with the connected device usually by means of a communications subsystem or a computer bus that is connected to the hardware. The driver directs commands to the device when the program sends instructions for a task to be done. The device will call for routines from the program once the device sends back data. A driver is operating-system-specific and dependent on hardware. It acts as translator between the operating system or application and the hardware to simplify programming. G DATA Software is a security software that provides protection from viruses, malware and Internet threats for business and home computers. The hookcentre.sys file has a digital signature from G DATA Software AG with certificate issued by Symantec Time Stamping Services Singer or VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hookcentre.sys. is used by G DATA Software AG, If you shut down hookcentre.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hookcentre.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is G DATA Software AG, from your system.
