The granola.exe file is a process called Granola used by the application Granola created by MiserWare. It is not a system process. It runs when you load Windows. This process can monitor programs. Granola Enterprise is a power management utility that provides organization-scale energy tracking. It lets you monitor your IT power consumption and report and track your progress. It provides a baseline profile of the total power used by your systems, tools for you to estimate cost savings achieved by energy management options and the power bill for your IT infrastructure and the information relating the history of your power use over time according to systems, CPUs and monitors. Granola Enterprise tools include Insight, Power Steering, Power Nap and Power Tuning. Insight provides detailed reporting. Power Steering helps you manage your CPU power. Power Nap allows you to put your monitor and system to sleep. Power Tuning helps to provide better performance. This program lets you identify and eliminate the factors that waste energy in your computers.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. granola.exe. is used by Granola, If you shut down granola.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop granola.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Granola, from your system.
