The file gdihook5.sys, known as PCI GDI HOOK5 Miniport Driver, belongs to software NetSupport Manager by Productive Computer Insight. NetSupport manager is cross-platform remote control and systems management software with a comprehensive multi-platform support for Windows, Mac, Linux, and a range of Mobile systems. This application has a fully integrated remote deployment utility that enables the user to browse, locate, and connect to all systems across the LAN or WAN. It allows connections over IPX/SPX, TCP/IP, NETBUI, NETBIOS and HTTP protocols, and provides seamless communication between systems that are all located behind different firewalls using the included NetSupport Manager Internet Gateway component. The remote control feature enables the user to watch, control, or share the keyboard, screen, and mouse of a workstation irrespective of the network protocol and operating system. It can scan multiple systems or cycle through one or more workstations and displays the screens on the user's Control Console.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. gdihook5.sys. is used by NetSupport Manager, If you shut down gdihook5.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop gdihook5.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is NetSupport Manager, from your system.
