The file fwsrv.exe, known as Firewall Serer, belongs to software Jetico Personal Firewall by Jetico. The Personal Firewall from Jetico enforces application specific network rules that are similar to most other firewalls. The firewall is a software program or a piece of hardware that helps screen out hackers, viruses, and worms that try to reach the computer over the Internet, and also stops the computer from sending malicious software to other computers. The firewall checks the information coming from the Internet or over a network, and then either blocks it or allows it to pass through to the computer depending on the firewall settings. The Jetico Personal Firewall offers three levels of protection to the user, which includes low-level network packets filtering, application-level network events filtering, and filtering of user-level process activity. The firewall also monitors processes for malicious code injection, checks the validity of network packets and parameters, and logs network activity.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. fwsrv.exe. is used by Jetico Personal Firewall, If you shut down fwsrv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop fwsrv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Jetico Personal Firewall, from your system.
