The file emcrypt.exe, known as eMCrypt, belongs to software eMCrypt by http://emcrypt.com. EMCrypt is software that encrypts emails into PDF format. It has the capability to encrypt emails in 128 bit or 256 bit AES in Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2003 and 2006 and Windows 2008 R2 Terminal Server as 32 bit and 64 bit versions. The installed email editor must be set to HTML based on Microsoft Windows requirements. Users can try the free version to evaluate the software capabilities before upgrading to the professional version. Some features that are available in the professionalversion only are passwords dependent on the destination address that can be stored in a database, and customization of the email text to the standard email text format. The PDF document for the 128 bit encryption for the free version can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader version 7, while the 256 bit PDF encryption for the professional version can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader version 9.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. emcrypt.exe. is used by eMCrypt, If you shut down emcrypt.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop emcrypt.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is eMCrypt, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
