The program that is most commonly associated with the executable dxdllreg.exe is Microsoft’s DirectX for Windows. DirectX is a program that features applications, or APIs, for your PC’s multimedia functions and devices. The process linked to the software is Microsoft DirectX DLL Register. Simply put, the file asks users to register their DirectX DLLs with their Windows OS. The file is not installed with Windows OS installers, but is instead through a download from the Internet where a game, video or audio file prompts the user that DirectX is needed in order to launch the programs. In some instances, the file is installed when games are installed on the PC. The usual route of the file is that it will ask you to register your DirectX, prompt for a restart, and then automatically remove itself from startup. However, there are instances when the automatic disabling from startup does not happen, which will then cause the file to keep showing up with every boot-up. Users uncheck the file from the startup tabs to prevent it from running upon startup the next time around.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. dxdllreg.exe. is used by Microsoft DirectX DLL Register, If you shut down dxdllreg.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop dxdllreg.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft DirectX DLL Register, from your system.
