The file dvd_2k.sys, known as DVD_RAM Addon Driver, belongs to software Easy CD and DVD Creator by Roxio. This software for CD/DVD burning allows users to capture, organize, edit, burn and share music, data, photo, and video on CD and DVD. It has a handy desktop widget called Roxio Burn that allows the user to drag and drop files for burning or copying directly into the desktop. Users can convert analog audio from LPs and cassettes to CD or DVD, enhance photos and import video to the PC. Photo enhancement tools include red eye removal and the addition of stunning effects to create photo albums and slide shows. Users can create home movies with professional transitions, motion menus, and music, or create music mixes with cross-fades, effects, and visualization. Copying and archiving of audio, photo, and video can be done across multiple disks, and media file backups can be created in CDs, DVDs, and dual layer DVDs.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. dvd_2k.sys. is used by Easy CD and DVD Creator, If you shut down dvd_2k.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop dvd_2k.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Easy CD and DVD Creator, from your system.
