The file dtscsi.sys, known as SCSI Miniport, is Windows driver software that belongs to software DAEMON Tools by DT Soft. SCSI (small computer system interface) is a bus standard for connecting computers and their peripherals. SCSI miniport drivers can be a plug and play driver, or it can run as a legacy driver that does not participate in the plug and play operations such as resource redistribution or power management. The SCSI miniport driver is used by the application DAEMON Tools for creating CD/DVD emulators. DAEMON Tools Pro does not use a proprietary container format, allowing users to burn images with most image formats. This application mounts iso, mdx, mdf, b5t, b6t, cue, nrg, isz, and many other disc images to a virtual drive. It can convert images from all supported formats to mdf/, mdx, mds, or iso, and make images of CD, DVD, and Blu-ray discs from these formats. DAEMON Tools Pro can make compressed disc images, or split images to several files, and protect created images with a password.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. dtscsi.sys. is used by DAEMON Tools Pro, If you shut down dtscsi.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop dtscsi.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is DAEMON Tools Pro, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as DAEMON Tools Pro, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
