The file dtbfwservice.exe, known as DTBFWService, belongs to software DVRMSToolbox. DVRMSToolbox is a set of tools to perform actions on DVR-MS files. A file with the DVR-MS (Microsoft Digital Video Recording) file extension is a Windows XP Media Center, Windows Vista, or Windows 7 recorded television file. The DVR (Digital Video Recording) feature of these Windows operating systems creates files in the DVR format. The DVRMSToolbox is freeware that is used to analyze the Media Center recorded files to mark the start and end of commercials. Users of DVRMSToolbox can skip the marked commercials to view directly video content. This application has the capability to mark and skip commercials during video playback, but these commercials are not deleted from the file. This feature ensures that there are no inadvertent cuts from the recorded video. DVRMS Toolbox has the capability to convert DVRMS files to MPEG or WMV for portability to other devices.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. dtbfwservice.exe. is used by DVRMSToolbox, If you shut down dtbfwservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop dtbfwservice.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is DVRMSToolbox, from your system.
