The downloader.exe process runs in the background upon initialization and may run the BlizzardDownloader module with other resources of associated third party programs installed in the system. These background processes normally become active once its associated applications start running in the foreground or background of the system. Downloader.exe may also call required modules among other processes of the operating system when the user requests a feature integrated into a program that is associated with the downloader.exe process. This EXE file generally perform this function in order for the BlizzardDownloader or its operating system applications to provide the user with his or her requested set of features. Since these third-party application modules and operating system files are called by the downloader.exe process only when necessary. This retains the optimal performance of the system in running other third-party applications and vital background processes. The virtual memory and RAM resources of the operating system are also conserved for these important functionalities because these modules and files are just referenced and not directly loaded unto the system by downloader.exe.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. downloader.exe. is used by Download Accelerator, If you shut down downloader.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop downloader.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Download Accelerator, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Download Accelerator, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
