Developed by Digital Interactive Systems Corporation or DISCover, a company that specializes in gaming technology for PCs, discover.exe is the executable file for the DISCover gaming technology software. The DISCover technology allows PC games be played like video game consoles. It features the drop-and-play technology engines, the auto-playing of CDs and DVDs as it automates installation scripts and games updates via the Internet. The DISCover technology debuted in the 2003 Electronic Entertainment Expo. It showcased the machines namely, Alienware DHS 2 and Apex Extreme. In 2007, DISCover released HAWGS or Hardcore White-Label Gaming System in the market, a unique utility technology used for Ammo digital distribution service for the FiringSquad. In September of the same year, DISCover’s CEO David Ferrigno introduced the InstaPlay, an improved desktop client for a more enhanced gaming experience. Usage concerns were addressed, as well as the comparisons of InstaPlay with other digital distribution systems such as Steam and Direct2Drive.
