GNU Privacy Guard replaces the PGP suite of cryptographic program into a GPL Licensed, and is basically a part of the software project (Free Software Foundation) of GNU. It features both a command line interface and a graphical user interface, with the capability to install applications based on OpenPGP, plug-ins, as well as dependencies that rely on using GPG based encryption. To make a connection, DirMngr is responsible in allowing the download and management of CRLs and OCSPs. This means that the file dirmngr.exe is an important tool that must be kept running in the background during the launching of GNU Privacy Guard.
