The file desktopmgr.exe, known as BlackBerry Desktop Manager, belongs to software Desktop Tools for RIM Handhelds by Research In Motion (RIM). This program is a component of the application BlackBerry Desktop Software. BlackBerry is a line of handheld devices designed marketed by Research In Motion that features a physical QWERTY keyboard or a multi-touch screen and virtual keyboard in newer models. This handheld device can be used to shoot video, play music, take photos, and perform online functions such as Web browsing and emailing. The interface for the Desktop Manager is user friendly and includes menus for the synchronization, management, and connection with a PC or Mac. The Blackberry Desktop Software enables users to synchronize the desktop organizer, music and media files from a PC or Mac to the BlackBerry device. This program manages downloaded programs, and enables users to remove unused programs and add games and new applications, including BlueBerry software alerts to keep the smartphone updated and running smoothly.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. desktopmgr.exe. is used by BlackBerry Desktop Software, If you shut down desktopmgr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop desktopmgr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is BlackBerry Desktop Software, from your system.
