The ctm.exe process is an executable component file of the PC Inspector software, which is a suite of Windows programs classified as data recovery and system maintenance tools developed by Convar with a set of options for recovering accidentally deleted files and folders, repairing corrupted files, creating backup copies of files and folders stored in the external and internal data storage devices of the Windows-based computer, and for locally and remotely performing administrative maintenance tasks in client and server systems connected to the network. The ctm.exe process is specifically deployed into the system by the PC Inspector software as the executable program dispatcher file of the PC Inspector Task Manager application, which is a tool designed to allow users, network and system administrators to configure schedules for running programs and processes in a client or server system at timed intervals, and for locally or remotely deploying these task schedules across the network. The PC Inspector Task Manager software is included as one of the programs bundled into the PC Inspector suite of data recovery and system maintenance tools, and users can load the PC Task Manager application unto the system, access the UI (User Interface) components of this software and implement its embedded set of task scheduling functionalities into the Windows-based system by activating the ctm.exe file, which is placed in the computer upon the installation of the PC Inspector Task Manager software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ctm.exe. is used by Convar PC Inspector and Convar PC Inspector Task Manager Application, If you shut down ctm.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ctm.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Convar PC Inspector and Convar PC Inspector Task Manager Application, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
