Many users reported that their anti-malware tools flag the ctfmona.exe process as a malicious application related to variants of the Downloader.MisleadApp program, which is a family of Trojans known to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and an unsecured Windows System Registry. Other users claim that their system security applications classify the ctfmona.exe process as a malware item associated with components of the Win32/Tibs.FR and Win32/Tibs.GF programs, which are families of Trojans and worms reported to be embedded with spyware functionalities. In both cases, these users claim that the ctfmona.exe malware is capable of creating and injecting keys and entries into the unsecured Windows System Registry of the unprotected computer upon the initial placement and activation of the ctfmona.exe malware in the system. These registry strings are said to allow the ctfmona.exe malware to automatically initialize during system startup and operate as a cloacked background process during system runtime. These users state that the ctfmona.exe malware is also capable of exploiting unencrypted TCP/IP network ports and use these system vulnerabilities to download more malicious applications unto the system from predesignated remote servers that are said to be managed by the authors of the ctfmona.exe malware. A few users also claim that the ctfmona.exe malware is capable of performing instructions or directives in the system that are transmitted by these remote servers to the infected system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ctfmona.exe. is used by Downloader.MisleadApp Trojan and Win32/Tibs.FR Trojan and Win32/Tibs.GF Trojan, If you shut down ctfmona.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ctfmona.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Downloader.MisleadApp Trojan and Win32/Tibs.FR Trojan and Win32/Tibs.GF Trojan, from your system.
