The ctavtray.exe file is an executable component process of the firmware resources and device driver software utilities that are distributed with Creative Sound Blaster Live soundcards, which are internal hardware devices equipped with audio chipsets developed by Creative Technology for Windows-based computers. This means the ctavtray.exe process is placed in the system upon the installation of these associated Creative Technology firmware components and device driver software utilities. The ctavtray.exe process is specifically deployed into the system by these Creative Technology drivers and firmware resources as the executable program dispatcher file of the EAX Animation Playback application, which is a small program built into these Creative Technology firmware components and drivers. This application is responsible for loading the animated EAX sequence upon system startup, and for integrating an icon in the Windows System Tray that provides user access to control panel options and context menu items available in the Creative Technology Audio HQ program, which is where audio playback/recording and digital sound processing settings can be configured by the user for the associated Creative Sound Blaster Live soundccard that is connected to the Windows-based computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ctavtray.exe. is used by Creative Sound Blaster Live Firmware/Driver Software and EAX Animation Playback Application, If you shut down ctavtray.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ctavtray.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Creative Sound Blaster Live Firmware/Driver Software and EAX Animation Playback Application, from your system.
