What is  cpqset.exe

Cpqset Application is a process that is installed in HP and Compaq notebooks, with an executable file of cpqset.exe. This is typically already installed on the units, which means that people who purchase HP and Compaq notebooks will generally find this file in their Task Manager pane. If it came pre-installed, it is likely that the process is enabled by default, and will launch together with boot-up. The process keeps the default settings of your notebook features enabled; disabling it will not affect the way your notebook performs. The file can be found saved in the following file path: C:\Program Files\HPQ\Default Settings\cpqset.exe. Usual file size is 228.06 KB, with an average RAM usage of 150 KB. The file has been detected by AV software on several occasions; however upon careful inspection of users, the alert was a false alarm. The AV application mistakenly identified the file as a threat because of strings in the legitimate file that closely resemble strings of a malicious file.
