The cpqdmi.exe process is an executable component file of the Compaq DMI Service Extension application, which is a Windows program bundled into the firmware resources and device driver software utilities that are pre-installed into certain Compaq laptops and desktop computers. The cpqdmi.exe process is specifically deployed as the executable program dispatcher file of the Compaq DMI Extension Service application, which is a small program built into the firmware components and device driver software utilities of these supported Compaq laptops and desktop computers. The cpqdmi.exe process is responsible for loading the Compaq Desktop Management Interface application unto the Windows-based system, while this application allows users to configure the system and desktop settings of their Compaq laptops and desktop computers from within Microsoft Windows. The cpqdmi.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the Compaq DMI Service Extension application, which is in turn pre-deployed into the Windows-based computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cpqdmi.exe. is used by Compaq DMI (Desktop Management Interface) Service Extension Application, If you shut down cpqdmi.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cpqdmi.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Compaq DMI (Desktop Management Interface) Service Extension Application, from your system.
