The congoo.dll file has been reported by many users as a malicious program associated with a variant of the SearchIt application, which is a known Web browser hijacker that redirects the user's Web browser while surfing the Internet to predesignated websites that are managed by the authors of the congoo.dll malware, or by its associated companies and organizations. Other users claim that their anti-malware tools flag the congoo.dll file as a malicious program associated with variants and components of the Generic PUP.x application, which is a family of obtrusive adware programs and BHOs (Browser Helper Objects) reported to be integrated with Trojan functionalities. A few users state that their system security tools detect the congoo.dll file as a malware item belonging to the Generic PUP.x!dl family of BHOs and adware components that are known to be embedded with Trojan downloader-like capabilities. In all instances, these malicious variants and the congoo.dll malware were reported to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with missing OS security certificates, outdated Web browsers and an unsecured Windows System Registry, in which the latter is said to enable the congoo.dll malware and one of its EXE component processes to create and inject keys and entries into the Windows System Registry, and these registry keys and entries are said to instruct the system to allow the congoo.dll malware and its other executable component processes to automatically initialize during system startup and operate as hidden background processes during system runtime.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. congoo.dll. is used by SearchIt Browser Hijacker and Generic PUP.x and Generic PUP.x!dl, If you shut down congoo.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop congoo.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is SearchIt Browser Hijacker and Generic PUP.x and Generic PUP.x!dl, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as SearchIt Browser Hijacker and Generic PUP.x and Generic PUP.x!dl, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application.
