The Comcast Toolbar software is a Web browser plugin or add-on application that was developed for XFINITY subscribers with Windows-based computers where a new version of the Internet Explorer Web browser is installed, or otherwise, a more recent version of the Mozilla Firefox Web browser, and this program deploys the comcasttoolbar.dll file into the Windows-based system upon its installation. The comcasttoolbar.dll file is referenced by the Comcast Toolbar software whenever this program needs to implement its UI (User Interface) elements into the shell of Internet Explorer or the Mozilla Firefox Web browser, and the Comcast Toolbar program also needs to reference the comcasttoolbar.dll module whenever the user accesses the options and menu items available in its UI components from within the Internet Explorer Web browser or Mozilla Firefox, in order to perform the operations requested by the user from the Comcast Toolbar software. The comcasttoolbar.dll file is one of the component modules packaged with other resource files and libraries that are bundled into the installer distributions of the Comcast Toolbar software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. comcasttoolbar.dll. is used by Comcast Toolbar, If you shut down comcasttoolbar.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop comcasttoolbar.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Comcast Toolbar, from your system.
