What is cologsver.exe
The cologsver.exe file is an executable process that has been reported by many users as a malicious program classified by their system security tools as a component or variant of the TROJ_AGENT.AASS application, which is a family of Trojans known to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with unencrypted TCP/IP network ports. Other users claim that their anti-malware programs flag the cologsver.exe as a variant of the Virus.Win32.Agent.ad application, which is a family of viruses and Trojans reported to infect unsecured Windows-based computers with outdated system security certificates and Web browsers. As a Trojan, these users state that the cologsver.exe file is capable of automatically initializing during system startup and can operate as a hidden background process while searching for unprotected TCP/IP network ports that it can exploit and use to contact predesignated remote servers and download more malicious programs unto the system from those sources, which are managed by the authors of the cologsver.exe malware, and these self-initialization functionalities of the cologsver.exe process is said to be supported by its ability to create and inject keys and entries into the Windows System Registry upon the successful placement and activation of the cologsver.exe process in the unprotected Windows-based system, because these registry keys and entries are said to instruct the system to allow the cologsver.exe process to automatically initialize during system startup and secretly operate as a hidden background process during system runtime. As a virus, the cologsver.exe process has been reported by users to be capable of hijacking the default Web browser of the unsecured Windows-based computer and replace its saved homepage and search page with URLs that point to websites managed by the authors of the cologsver.exe malware, and some users also reported that the cologsver.exe process is capable of creating duplicates of itself and placing these copies in various locations across the infected Windows-based computer, in order to covertly transmit these copies to other systems that are connected to the same network or via email and IM.
