The cnxtdiag.sys file is a driver component of the firmware resources and device driver utilities that are distributed with certain network devices equipped with Conexant chipsets, such as ADSL modems and other USB network tools. The cnxtdiag.sys file is deployed into the system by these firmware components and drivers to serve as the Diagnostic Interface driver of these supported Conexant-powered network devices, which means the cnxtdiag.sys file assists the firmware utilities and driver software resources of these associated network tools in implementing its device status monitoring and management functionalities into the Windows-based computer. The cnxtdiag.sys file is placed in the system upon the installation of these firmware components and device driver software utilities, which also means the cnxtdiag.sys file is packaged into the firmware and driver software installers of these Conexant-powered network tools and devices.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cnxtdiag.sys. is used by Diagnostics Interface Driver, If you shut down cnxtdiag.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cnxtdiag.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Diagnostics Interface Driver, from your system.
