The cmtcs.exe process is a component file of the Charismathics TSS (Trusted Platform Service Stack) module, which is a resource library built into smart card applications that are integrated with Charismathics Smart Security Interface protocols and specifications. These smart card applications are implemented into devices that require cryptographic PKI (Public Key Interface) security functionalities for encrypting and decrypting access security tokens, and the cmtcs.exe process is deployed into the system upon the installation of the applications, firmware components and driver software utilities that are packaged with these Charismathics Smart Security Interface-enabled devices. This also means the cmtcs.exe file is included as one of the EXE component processes among other resource files and modules that are packaged into the installer distributions of compatible smart card applications.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cmtcs.exe. is used by Charismathics Smart Security Interface-enabled Smart Card Applications and Charismathics TSS (Trusted Platform Service Stack) Library, If you shut down cmtcs.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cmtcs.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Charismathics Smart Security Interface-enabled Smart Card Applications and Charismathics TSS (Trusted Platform Service Stack) Library, from your system.
