The cmskype.exe process is deployed into the system alongside other firmware utilities and device driver software resources that are packaged with supported USB Skype phones. The cmskype.exe process is specifically placed in the system to serve as a middleware program between the Skype application, the Windows system and the software components of the connected USB Skype handset. This means the cmskype.exe process assists in the integration of the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and Web telephony functionalities embedded in these compatible USB Skype phone devices.
