The cmext.dll file is a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) module that is a component of the iColorFolder software, which is a Windows software classified as a desktop enhancement tool that was developed with a set of features for customizing the colors of folders, providing users with a way to better organize the data stored in their Windows-based computers. The cmext.dll module is specifically deployed into the system by the iColorFolder software as the CMenuExtender library, which is referenced by the iColorFolder application whenever it is actively running in the system, and the cmext.dll file is particularly used by the iColorFolder software to provide the user with more colors to choose from, via the UI (User Interface) of this desktop enhancement program. The cmext.dll file is placed in the system upon the installation of the iColorFolder program, which also means the cmext.dll file is included as one of the component modules bundled with the other resource libraries and files that are packaged into the installer distributions of the iColorFolder software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cmext.dll. is used by iColorFolder and CMenuExtender Library, If you shut down cmext.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cmext.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is iColorFolder and CMenuExtender Library, from your system.
