The executable process file cavrid.exe is identified to be as CavRid Application, CA Anti-Virus Infection Logs & Reports, or CA Antivirus Realtime Infection Report as developed by the Company EZ-Antivirus program. The process file is part of the software, CavRid Application, CA Internet Security Suite, CA Anti-Virus or Computer Associates Antivirus as created by the Company Computer Associates International or CA. The process file is not considered to be as a Windows core file, or neither does it have a visible window and is not considered to be CPU intensive. Being a Verisign signed file, with an issued certificate by Verisign Time Stamping Services Signer and signed by CA, cavrid.exe has 5 versions which are all under Computer Associates Antivirus. These are versions 7.1.6.0/11.0.8.1 (subfolder internet security trust suite with 185,896 KB), version 7.1.8.0 (subfolder EZ armor with the same file size), version 11.0.7.4 (subfolder antivirus within yahoo! Subfolder with 185,456 KB), and version 11.0.6.7 (path %PROGRAMFILES%/ca/etrust ez armor/etrust ez antivirus with the same size file as the previous). The process file automatically starts together with Windows start up with the Registry Key: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ Current Version\ Run with the directory of %PROGRAMFILES%\CA\CA internet security Suite\CA Anti-Virus.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cavrid.exe. is used by CavRid Application, If you shut down cavrid.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cavrid.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is CavRid Application, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.
