Developed by Microsoft, agentsvr.exe is the process file for Agent Server, an ActiveX control software for adding character animation to Web pages, voice command capability for end-users, and text script to speech facilities. In simple terms, Microsoft Agent Server is the computer function where users can talk to each other, display an animated talking character, and to listen to sounds and voices. One famous animated Windows character is the “paper clip” or the Microsoft Assistant that pops-up on MS Office windows, which the user can turn on and off. If the Agent Server is running in the Task List, it means that a software or program being used requires it. Thus it is recommended that it be left on. Agentsvr.exe’s 32- and 64- bit executability sustains the UI style graphics application. AgentSvr.exe’s capabilities to add animation to Web pages and give out voice sound in online communication are used in most multimedia applications.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. agentsvr.exe. is used by Microsoft Agent Server, If you shut down agentsvr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop agentsvr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Agent Server, from your system.
