The activesmart.exe executable is the main launcher and executable of the ActiveSMART software, created by Ariolic Software, Ltd. The activesmart.exe or ActiveSMART, is a hard disk monitor. ActiveSMART monitors a computer hard disk’s performance, errors and status. ActiveSMART features a hard disk information viewer which shows the user the main contents of the hard disk, how much space it takes up, and how it affects the hard disk. ActiveSMART also shows hard disk temperature to avoid overheating. ActiveSMART is not for computer hard disks only. The software also supports USB and SSD disk drives. The activesmart.exe process is included in the boot process and runs in the background and the system tray. It notifies the user of possible hard drive failures. The ActiveSMART software is compatible only with the Windows operating system. The activesmart.exe also includes a file shredder tool to completely delete and wipe data.
