The 4nt.exe is a Windows executable system file which launches the program 4NT currently known as TCC/LE CMD Replacement. The 4nt.exe was programmed and developed by JP Software. 4NT is used and designed as a CMD replacement for the original Windows command prompt program. The 4NT program is a command shell integrated with a set of internal commands added to the original Windows command line set. A total of 111 internal commands are available in the 4NT program. 4NT can be run as a singular program or in coordination to other command line programs. The 4NT program provides support for plug-ins to add more features and commands. Manual additions are also supported. History recording and autocomplete of files and directory names are also main features of the program. Batch file and command processing is also added to the program. 4NT allows users to send commands and keystrokes to any active window.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. 4nt.exe. is used by 4NT Unicode, If you shut down 4nt.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop 4nt.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is 4NT Unicode, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as 4NT Unicode, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
