The 2portalmon.exe is an executable system file and is the main launcher of the program 2Wire HomePortal Monitor Application. The 2portalmon.exe is also the HomePortal Monitor Application itself and is programmed and developed by 2Wire, Incorporated. The HomePortal Monitor Application was designed and specifically bundled with a HomePortal series modem. The HomePortal Monitor is a system tray application which allows a user to control the HomeMonitor modem locally or remotely. The system tray application notifies the user of problems involving the network’s settings or the current internet connection status. Its features include file and printer sharing and viewing of the current home network information and settings. It is capable of changing a mobile computer’s location, which gives a user the capability to move a mobile computer, like a laptop or a netbook, from one HomePortal network to another while retaining the original network’s preferences. The HomePortal Monitor Application is currently available and only compatible to computers running Windows. The 2Wire Home Monitor Application has a web service which acts as the user’s online portal to the HomePortal network.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. 2portalmon.exe. is used by HomePortal Monitor Application, If you shut down 2portalmon.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop 2portalmon.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HomePortal Monitor Application, from your system.
