Hi Violetmarie,

The HTTP 404 Not Found Error means that the webpage you were trying to reach could not be found on the server. It is a Client-side Error which means that either the page has been removed or moved and the URL was not changed accordingly, or that you typed in the URL incorrectly.

There are some simple fixes you can try to solve this problem:

Fix 1: Refresh page
The first thing you should do is simply refresh. You can press Ctrl+F5 to force a refresh on the page. The error may appear just because the page wouldn’t load.

Fix 2: Clear browser’s cache and cookies
If you are able to visit the page from another device, such as your phone, clearing the cache and cookies will usually solve the problem.
  1. On your computer, open Google Chrome.
  2. In the top right, click the Menu.
  3. Click Settings, Show advanced settings.
  4. In the "Privacy" section, click Content settings.
  5. Under "Cookies," click All cookies and site data.
    • To delete all cookies, click Remove all.
    • To delete a specific cookie, hover over a site, then click the that appears to the right.
For clearing the cache:
  1. Launch Google Crome. Click on Google Crome menu control's .
  2. Tap More Settings.
  3. Below "Advanced," tap Privacy, Clear browsing data....
  4. At the top, tap the drop down under "Clear data from the."
  5. Obliterate the following items from: such as past hour or past day. To delete everything, select beginning of time.
  6. Select "Clear image and cache".
  7. Tap Clear data.
Fix 3: Check the URL
Make sure that the URL inputted correctly. This includes spelling of the URL, correct slashes, file extension of the page and so forth.

Fix 4: Scan for Malware
There are some malware files that will force a 404 Error on websites. It’s imperative to make sure your computer is clean and not compromised.
If you are checking for malware, simply run a complete scan on the system with a good antivirus product. It is important to have a reliable security solution on your system, which should include real-time scanning, automatic update and a firewall.
You can use the below ones:
  • Norton
  • Avast
  • Avira
  • Mcafee
  • Security Reviver which will scan your PC and identify security threats and vulnerabilities. Security Reviver can quickly and safely remove these threats and prevent them from reoccurring.
I hope this helps in getting the 404 problem solved.

Regards,
Lokesh

Hello Violetmarie ,

Thank you for posting your concern's here.

If you would like to fix the error 404 that you have been getting, please follow the instructions below.

1.Check the URL. Often times the 404 Not Found error appears because the URL was typed incorrectly or the link that was clicked on points to the wrong URL.

2.Refresh the page. Retry the web page by pressing F5, clicking the refresh/reload button, or trying the URL from the address bar again.

3.Search the website on Google. It's possible that you simply have the entirely wrong URL in which case a quickGoogleorBingsearch should get you where you want to go.

If you found the correct URL, please save it on your bookmarks.

4. Clear your browser's cache, clearing your browser cache also helps in fixing this issue.

I hope this helps!

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Christian
