Hi Ken,

.wbk files are typically backup files for Microsoft Word documents. If you have all of you important Word documents already saved and do not think there is a chance that you might need to recover an unsaved or earlier version of a document then you can go ahead and delete these files.

Hi Ken,

The WBK file extension is primarily associated with Microsoft Word document (DOC) backup files. If the option is selected in Word, the program creates a backup copy, with the WBK extension, of any Word document so that the document can be recovered in the event of a program or system crash or if the file is corrupted, infected or accidentally deleted.

  • Quit Internet Explorer, Firefox, or any other web browser
  • Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.

  • In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the Delete all offline content check box , and then click OK.
