My computer shuts down whenever I close it or I leave it open for too long and it goes to sleep. This results in me having to wait for everything to boot back up whenever I move around with my laptop. What can I do to prevent this.

Hi Cameron,

Thank you for sharing your issue to us.

Try checking for Power Options in search bar and click Change advanced power settings.

Set your desired time on when to turn off the display or when to put the computer to sleep for two preferred plans.

Hope this will help.

Hi Cameron,

It’s easy to change the settings. Simply click the battery icon in your system tray, and select More power options.

In the Power Options window that opens, click the Choose what closing the lid does link on the left sidebar.

Here you can choose what your power buttons do on your computer, as well as what happens when you shut the lid. You can select to Do nothing, Sleep, Hibernate, or Shut down. In general,Sleep is a good option, but if you want to leave your laptop running, select Do nothing.

Note that you can change the settings for both On battery and Plugged in, so your laptop will work differently when you’re using mobile versus when you’re plugged in at your desk. Since we usually would only want to leave our laptop running when it’s plugged in, we set ours to still go to sleep when it’s on battery power but to do nothing when you close the lid while it’s plugged in.

Once you’re done, click Save at the bottom to start using your new settings.

Regards,
Lokesh

Hi Cameron,

By default, most laptops automatically go into sleep mode when you close the lid. Sometimes, though, you might want to leave your laptop running while the lid is shut.

It’s easy to change the settings. Simply click the battery icon in your system tray, and select More power options.

I kept getting the blue screen with Driver Power State Failure error message and then my computer would restart. I found your product and it did not happen any more. I just purchased an anti-virus (kaspersky) and now it is doing it again. It is so frustrating. My computer is only 6 months old. It is a Asus desktop.
