Hi Barbara,

You can follow the below steps:

  1. Check your computer. It may seem obvious, but make sure you have a DVD drive, not just a CD drive. A CD drive will not play DVD media. Look for the DVD symbol on the front of the drive.Play DVDs on Your Windows PC for Free Step 1
  2. Check your software. See if you have Windows Media Player.Go to Start > Search and type Windows Media Player. If you have it, you can play your DVD.Play DVDs on Your Windows PC for Free Step 2Bullet1If you don’t have Windows Media Player, or yours is out of date, upgrade to the latest version. Go to the help menu to find a link to the latest upgrade
  3. Install a free media player. If Windows Media Player is unable to read the DVD, you can download other media players, or you may simply need to install an MPEG 2 codec.
  4. You can download the latest codec installation package from Microsoft here:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=507.Play DVDs on Your Windows PC for Free Step 3Bullet1
  5. You can also download and install RealPlayer, GOM Player (which will hunt down codecs for you whenever it can’t play something), BSPlayer, UMPlayer, and VLC.Play DVDs on Your Windows PC for Free Step 3Bullet3
I hope this helps.

Good Luck,
Lokesh

A lot of computers don't always come pre-installed with software that allows you to watch DVD's.

That's the good thing about computers though! You can always find some software that you need.

I'd reccomend VLC media player. http://www.videolan.org

I kept getting the blue screen with Driver Power State Failure error message and then my computer would restart. I found your product and it did not happen any more. I just purchased an anti-virus (kaspersky) and now it is doing it again. It is so frustrating. My computer is only 6 months old. It is a Asus desktop.
