Hi Ken,

Do you get this error when you try to launch a particular program?

It also looks like your error message is incomplete. The error generally appears in the following format:

Ordinal \"1234\" cannot be located in the dynamic link library \"XYZ.dll\"

Can you include the error number and the specifics of the DLL file?

As for the nature of the error, it could either be due malware, corrupted system files or a buggy system (Windows) update.

The more details you provide here, the easier it will be for us to help you fix this.

James

Ordinal 701 cannot be located in the dynamic link library, I never got this error until I downloaded google chrome and deleted internet explorer. I would also like to get my internet explorer back but the ordinal 701 will not let me use it.

Hi Ken, I would recommend running the System File Checker scan in Windows: Here\'s how: - Click Start. - Type “cmd” in the search bar. - Right click on Command Prompt in the list. - Choose “Run as Administrator” - Type “sfc /scannow” (Note: there is a space after sfc) This should repair any corrupted or missing system files. Your next step would be to try a clean re-installing of Internet Explorer on your computer. Here\'s how: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/318378 In the future, please try not to delete an app. Especially an app that\'s essential to your Operating System. It is also advisable to safely remove (uninstall) programs through the Windows Control Panel feature. Good luck, James

Hi Ken,

You may follow the points below and check.
Method 1
a)Click Start.
b)In the search box type iexplore and press ENTER.
c)Check if Internet Explorer loads.

Method 2
Run System File Checker tool.
SFC /scannow is a super-useful command you can use in any Windows version. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the /scannow switch, the tool will scan all of the important Windows files on your computer and replace them as necessary.
  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
  2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow
  3. A message will appear stating that 'The system scan will begin'. Be patient because the scan may take some time
  4. If any files require a replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue
  5. If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"
  6. After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

Method 3
Check if the issue exists in a clean boot state.
  1. Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
  2. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you should type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)A screenshot for this step.
  4. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.A screenshot for this step.
  5. Click OK, and then click Restart.

After the computer is restarted, you will have a clean boot environment.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Lokesh
