Hi Linzi,

There might be multiple reasons affecting the normal working of Start Menu, so you can try the below fixes to resolve your issue:

Fix 1:
  1. Find C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\ powershell.exe
  2. Right-click and Run as Administrator
  3. Copy this line: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  4. Right-click in the Powershell window to Paste and then press Enter.
Fix 2:
  • Start the Task Manager.
  • Click File -> Run new task.
  • Type "cmd" into the Run dialog, tick Create this task with administrative privileges and click OK.
  • Type the following text and press Enter: net user Admin123 MyPassword /add
  • Type the following text and press Enter: net localgroup Administrators Admin123 /add
  • Log off and login to the new Admin123 account. If it works correctly, you can migrate your data to the new user account. You are welcome to replace "Admin123" with your username of choice. The login password will be "MyPassword". You can easily change it later.
  • Log off and Log on on new account and its done.

Fix 3:
  • Open Windows PowerShell as Administrator
  • Right click Start button
  • Choose Command prompt (Admin)
  • Key in Powershell in the black window and hit Enter
Paste the following command in the Administrator:
Windows PowerShell window and press Enter key:

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Wait for PowerShell to execute and complete the command. Ignore the few errors (in red color) that may pop up.
When it finishes, try hitting Start and hopefully it’ll start working.

Fix 4: Another thing you can try is running the following command in an elevated command prompt, to run the System File Checker.
  1. Open Command prompt in Admin mode.
  2. Type the command sfc /scannow
  3. Restart after the scan is over and see if it helped.
I hope this helps.

Regards,
Lokesh
