Have you got any other wireless devices, or even any appliances in your room?

Sometimes appliances like refridgerators, washing machines, and stoves can produce interference with the wireless signal.

If you have a wireless telephone, it could also be causing interference, which would manifest itself as slow internet.

There is also a possibility that the wireless access point is too far away from your room, could you try moving it to a more central location?

    Hi Kaitlynn,

    Do you have a router?

If so, you should keep in mind that wireless internet loses fidelity over long distances, and through many obstructions, and works best when you place the router and the receiving antenna as high up as possible (in order to avoid obstacles).

Also, lead paint in old buildings would cause CONSIDERABLE interference. It is impossible to list all of the possibilities, since I don't know much about your current situation.

Also, different routers and wireless modems have different signal strengths, so that may be the issue.

    Thanks,
    Lokesh.
