More and more of people’s daily operations on a computer are being spent on the internet these days rather than applications on the desktop. with so much time now being spent in the browser it has almost become more important that you have a fast browser rather than a fast PC.
This how to follows on from a couple others that have been written that focus on how to optimize other computer browsers. This articles focuses on the Internet Explorer browser.
Optimizing Internet Explorer:
Get yourself the latest version of Internet Explorer.
Optimization1: Clear cached data in Internet Explorer:
1. Open Internet Explorer 8.
2. Click Safety, and then click Delete Browsing History.
3. In Delete Browsing History area, click Delete.
Optimization 2: Run Internet Explorer in “No Add-Ons” mode
1. Click Start, and then type Internet Explorer in the Start Search box.
2. Click Internet Explorer (No Add-Ons). Internet Explorer opens without add-ons, toolbars, or plug-ins.
3. Test Internet Explorer to verify that it works correctly
Other optimizations:
1. For sluggish performance: If the tabs are loading very slowly, then re-registering a DLL file can help. Open your command prompt, type regsvr32 actxprxy.dll and enter that.
2. Get faster page load times: Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options. In the “General” tab in the window, set the home page as “about: blank” which can save much time when the computer boots. In the “Advanced” tab-”Multimedia”, cross out “Enable Automatic Image Resizing” which can release the load of IE. And in the “Browsing”, cross out “Automatically check for Internet Explorer updates”
3. Clear cache and delete cookies:
- Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools > Internet Options
- Under Browsing history, click “Delete…”
- Put a check mark beside the “Temporary Internet files” and “Cookies” dialog boxes. (Note: You may prefer to put a check mark on the other dialog boxes as well.)
- Click the “Delete” button.
- Click “OK.”
4. Enable the “Every Visit to the Page” option:
- Open a new Internet Explorer window.
- On the Tools menu, click “Internet Options.”
- On the General tab, click “Settings” under the Browsing history.
- Under Temporary Internet Files, click the “Every time I visit to webpage” option.
- Click the up arrow on the Disk space to use option for the maximum setting. (Note: Recommended setting: 50-250MB)
- Click the “OK” button.
- Click on “OK” again to close the Internet Options window.
We hope these tips help you get a better surfing experience.
