What is  cpinit.exe

The cpinit.exe process is an executable component file of the CryptoPro CSP software, which is a Windows program classified as a cryptographic data protection tool that was developed with a set of features for encrypting and decrypting content stored in the Windows-based computer. The CryptoPro CSP application deploys proprietary cryptographic algorithms and data security protocols to encrypt files and folders that have been selected by the user through the UI (User Interface) of this program, or via the menu options and context items of the CryptoPro CSP software that are embedded into the Windows Explorer shell upon the installation of this application. The cpinit.exe process assists the CryptoPro CSP program in integrating these proprietary encryption and decryption algorithms into files and folders that have been chosen by the user for processing, and in implementing the data security protocols of the CryptoPro CSP application into the Windows-based system for content materials that have been encrypted with this program, even when the CryptoPro CSP software is inactive. The cpinit.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation of the CryptoPro CSP software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cpinit.exe. is used by CryptoPro CSP, If you shut down cpinit.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
