The fah504-console.exe file is the process called FAH5.04 that is used by the program Folding@Home Client that is developed by Stanford University. Folding@Home is distributed computing software used by scientists from Stanford University to help them in their studies of diseases such as Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s and cancers. The software will run on home computers. It will assign a problem on your computer for you to solve. After solving one problem, it will send you another. Your answers will help the scientists solve problems that involve many calculations related to the studies of these diseases. Folding pertains to the assembly of proteins before they can perform their functions. If proteins fail to fold correctly called misfolding, they will lead to diseases such as the ones mentioned above. This software intends to help scientists find cure for these diseases.
