What is cogad.exe
The cogad.exe process is an executable file that has been classified by the system security tools of many users as a malicious application associated with the Win32/Matcash.M program, which is a family of Trojans known to infect unprotected Windows-based systems with unencrypted TCP/IP network ports. Other users claim that their anti-malware applications flag the cogad.exe process as a variant of the W32.Spybot.Worm program, which is a family of Trojans and worms with spyware functionalities as reported by these users. According to both user groups, the cogad.exe process is said to be capable of initially exploiting and subsequently using unencrypted TCP/IP network ports of the unprotected Windows-based computer to initiate contact with remote servers that are managed by the authors of the cogad.exe malware, and upon successfully establishing data transmission and communication lines with these remote servers, the cogad.exe process is said to download more malicious applications unto the system from those remote servers, and upload private user details and Internet surfing information that the cogad.exe process has covertly collected from the infected system and its default Web browser to these remote servers. Some users state that the cogad.exe process is also capable of performing other malicious instructions and directives in the infected system upon receipt of these details from these remote servers.
