Commonly called as the Windows Driver Foundation, the wudfpf.sys is a component of the Microsoft Windows Operating System, which is a product created and popularized by Microsoft Corporation. Windows Driver Foundation, or also known as WDF, defines a single driver model, which is supported by 2 kinds of frameworks, which are the kernel-model driver framework (KMDF), and the User-Mode Driver Framework (UMDF), basically a device driver development platform that is utilized to facilitate drivers according to their types. In addition, WDF is the new platform for Microsoft Windows, particularly Windows Vista and Windows XP, and includes tools for driver verification or testing, such as the PREfast and Static Driver Verifier or SDV. As a Windows driver, wudfpf.sys must be retained and considered as an essential file on the computer system, since it generally enables the PC to communicate and connect with the hardware, as well as other devices, like digital cameras, portable media players and USB, connected to it.
