Windows Mobile Device Center, executed on the computer via the wmdc.exe file, is part of the software for the product Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center. This file enables the computer to detect your Windows-powered mobile device, i.e. mobile phones. Through this file, you can sync your mobile content with the PC so you can easily manage and transfer media files from the mobile device to the PC, and vice-versa. The process executes as a 64-but program on Windows PCs. You can usually find it in the size of 644.88 KB. The file’s original file name is wmdc.exe.mui. It executes via Windows Explorer, through the executable file explorer.exe. Its startup run name is “Windows Mobile Device Center.” Usual file location on disk is C:\Windows\WindowsMobile\wmdc.exe. The file is not considered as CPU-intensive, using only about 0.00000065% of CPU resources. RAM usage is 2.2 MB. This file version, 6.1.6965.0, is the one that usually gets installed on Windows 7 Home Premium PCs.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. wmdc.exe. is used by Windows Mobile Device Center, If you shut down wmdc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop wmdc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Windows Mobile Device Center, from your system.
