Visioneer OneTouch Scanner checks for updates every time the computer logs onto the Internet. Thewiseupdt.exe enables the OneTouch to perform this task. OneTouch scanner provides a tool that allows a user to scan with the use of scanner settings. Updates for this scanner, including all of the imaging products of Visioneer, can be downloaded online through its website. The wiseupdt.exe file is added to the scanner drivers so that it can detect automatically the updates for OneTouch. All updates can be loaded on the computer. The wiseupdt.exe file acts as an update utility. It runs in the background while the user surfs the Internet. So while the Visioneer OneTouch scanner is attached to the computer, it can search for updates. If it detects that there is an update, it notifies the user and then it will configure its settings. OneTouch can automatically scan documents to a specified file folder, email, printer or Word processing program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. wiseupdt.exe. is used by Visioneer OneTouch Scanner, If you shut down wiseupdt.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop wiseupdt.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Visioneer OneTouch Scanner, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
