The winmine.exe file refers to Minesweeper, a game program bundled in the software Microsoft Windows Operating System, which is developed by Microsoft Corporation. Also called as Windows Minesweeper, this computer game is easy and simple to play in only a few minutes, with the objective to uncover the squares that do not have mines. This is actually a strategy game as it requires logic in discovering which square has the mines, and which ones do not have the mines, but can be played by users of any ages, including children. Minesweeper is one of the common components of the Microsoft Windows OS program. Since most computers and laptops are pre-installed with Windows OS, either later or early versions, this software is always included upon installation. Unless the user removes the game completely, the winmine.exe file must be kept stored on the computer, and continues to run in the background, for a fun-filled playing of Minesweeper.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. winmine.exe. is used by Minesweeper or Microsoft Windows, If you shut down winmine.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
